Zorah Karasi Red Wine 750ml

Zorah Karasi is a beautiful Armenian red wine from the Vayots Dzor region. Karasi pays homage to Armenia’s 6100-year winemaking tradition: aged in traditional amphorae, hence the name, ‘of amphorae’ in Armenian. It is made with the Areni grape variety perhaps one of the oldest grape varieties in the world, Areni has been present in Armenia for millennia. The grape is grown on high altitude vineyards (1400 m), has never been grafted (pre-phylloxera) and is 100% native to this country. The wine is fermented with native yeast and then aged in ‘Karas’ (traditional clay amphorae) for approximately 12 months. After very light filtration, the wine matures in the bottle for about 6 months. With an alcohol content of 13.5%, this beauty is the perfect addition to your many occasions.Zorah Karasi has a deep dark red black color with a bright dark red tint. Nose reveals an elegant blend of red berries and spicy red cherry scents, followed by notes of scorched earth, fresh herbs and peppery meats. The palate is light to medium and generously flavored with juicy fruits such as red currants, red cherries and red licorice that meld into smoky spice and earth elements. Polished tannins with a bright feel and fresh acidity. Ends with a lick of spice and pepper on the savory, energetic finish. The wine goes perfectly with roasted meat, dark red fruit. Serve at 15ºC
